Červená Barva Press also took part in four bookfairs in 2009. We were at AWP, BU, Somerville Writers Festival, and the MA Poetry Festival in Lowell. I met so many wonderful people and reconnected with old friends. It was great and so much fun! It was important for our books/authors to have more exposure.

In 2010, Červená Barva Press will be on two panels. I'll send more information on that at a later time.

Our reading series will resume this spring. Soon, I will be sending a notice out about it. I just need to confirm the dates with the gallery. Tam Lin Neville will continue coordinating the series with me. The series is full for the spring and was by solicitation only. Červená Barva Press will have its five year anniversary in April. I am planning some special events to celebrate this.

I would like to thank Danielle Unger for her help with the press during her school break. She has been amazing and I am so grateful to her!

In the forthcoming months, look for new books by Leonard Cirino, Mark Pawlak, Roberta M. Swann, and Andrey Gritsman.

New chapbooks coming out soon are by Stacia Fleegal, Charles P. Ries, Zvi Sesling, and the 2009 chapbook contest winners Susan Lewis and James Penha. There will be so many more books and chapbooks coming out this year. Bill and I are very excited about it.

Third Body by Michel Delville (Translated by Gian Lombardo)
ISBN: 978-0-9792999-7-1
Perfect Bound, $13.00
5.5 x 8.5 inches, 70 pages
Prose Poetry

In Third Body, Michel Delville continues in the tradition of Belgian prose poetry exemplified by such prose poets as Henri Michaux, Géo Norge, and Eugene Savitzkaya. These writers honorably and admirably extend the francophone tradition of the prose poem as started in nineteenth century France by Aloysius Bertrand and Charles Baudelaire. Like these forbears and contemporaries, Delville utilizes the prose poem as a way to access profound poetic sentiments and provide trenchant social commentary through prosaic means-"To convert our ideas into material things." This conversion requires an understanding not simply of the material conditions Delville wishes to elucidate but also the ways in which political shifts play out on an intimate human scale, and vice versa. Throughout Third Body, Delville's lush, fervent prose poems masterfully articulate his philosophical concerns, while demonstrating a profound pleasure in using this literary form to express them. He is our interpreter, our navigator, our scribe across the terrain he sets out, and we need him here to guide us. We need literature like Delville's to help us make sense of human events because, on its own, "The eye doesn't see beyond sky."

"Alexander writes with brilliant clarity."
-Ian Randall Wilson, author of Great Things Are Coming

In Romance / Romanze, unexpected unions and reunions provide the starting points for two novellas from Ronald Alexander, works of aching and poignant beauty that touch the heart as much as they delight and tease the brain. In "Tilden and Dewey: A Corporate Romance" two formers lovers meet and realize what might have been. In "A Romanze for Martha" a woman whom love has past by is drawn into a bizarre triangle with a wealthy gay man and his assistant. The characters in these works are mirror-images to all who know the struggle to commit to love and passion in an age of increasing remoteness and alienation. Both "Tilden and Dewey: A Corporate Romance" and "A Romanze for Martha" remain in the reader's mind long after as a collective haunting reminder of the price we pay for love, and even more, the consequences of its denial in our lives.
